The Truth About Winning with Instagram Reels
You are committed to the long game, but growth is not coming to you, so you’ve thought about jumping in and doing reels, maybe you already have jumped in, but the water is not warm!
You have tried the trending reels, and yet you are not comfortable with them.
You have not done a reel because you see them as cringy, and/or you are not ready to get on camera yet due to being shy.
Or, you have done some reels, and yet you are wondering why the heck you are doing them. They are taking so much time and effort. They are not giving you great results, and you are not sure what the issue is.
The bottom line, you are discouraged.
You are not alone!
Some people seem to have taken the reels trend by storm and are growing their business like crazy! They are dancing and doing lip-sync reels; they seem to be having a great and carefree time while increasing their following!
What is their secret!?!
Here is the deal, you are watching these people, and so are hundreds, if not thousands of other people. Then those people are saving that trending audio and recreating that trending reel.
By the time you are doing it, there are already 1000’s other people doing it.
This does not make you an original, an authority, or a trailblazer in your industry.
This does not capture attention.
This does not give you the results you are looking for.
So then, how do you stand out, gain attention, and become a reels phenomenon?!?
The first thing is mindset; being on camera is not something most of us woke up one day and decided we would be comfortable doing.
And that is okay!! However, you have to start to get comfortable. You have to decide that this is it, silly or not; you will jump in and figure this out.
Secondly, you need to figure out a consistent pattern for yourself. If there is one thing we know about the algorithm, it likes to see patterns. Repetition means consistency, consistency is predictable, and that is what you need to work on creating.
How do you do this? By being yourself, working on a schedule, and doing these short-form videos in on-brand ways for you.
Thirdly, start the trend!
You can do this by watching TikToks to see what is trending. Research shows that TikTok trends are about 2 weeks ahead of Instagram reels. Watch the trends and adopt them into your own content strategy before everyone else does!.
Couple of things to note when doing this:
Make sure you are creating a short-form video (reel) for your brand/industry.
Create a theme of your own that you highlight during your reels; remember that consistency is key.
Don’t just adopt the same dance/moves and style of the trend; take the song/sound and make your own trend!
